The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is embarking on a new College Intern path that will hopefully allow you to explore multiple areas in Information Technology (IT) and IT business management. With our internship program you can select from seven areas of study and choose to stay in one over the other or switch it up when we have a team available to offer you the training in your next area(s) of interest.

In this innovative college intern position you will have opportunity to explore all facets of government services enterprisewide IT in hopes help you narrow or broaden your career in IT or IT support roles.

There are a multitude of advancement opportunities in the Office of Information Technology. This role will team you up with multiple IT professionals offering a broad spectrum of knowledge ranging from customer support systems administration or programming cyber security and networking. In this role you will have the opportunity to demonstrate develop and expand your technical expertise.
These positions can be filled in either Juneau Anchorage or Fairbanks located in either the 333 Willoughby Ave 5th floor in Juneau 550 West 7th Ave Suite 1210 (Atwood Building) in Anchorage or 800 Cushman St in Fairbanks.
While attendance inoffice may be required some of these positions and duties may qualify to be performed remotely. If telework qualified please note that during the training period and the occasional ad hoc/physical equipment needs arise inoffice attendance is required. The ability to telework or continue to telework is completely up to management.

College Intern 2
Currently accepted enrolled and attending an accredited college in an undergraduate degree program while maintaining an academic load of at least six credit hours per semester (eight credit hours per quarter);
AND
In good standing with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher;
AND
Have successfully completed training as a College Intern 1 or 24 semester 36 quarter) hours of coursework in the degree program.
College Intern 3
Currently accepted enrolled and attending an accredited college in a baccalaureate degree program while maintaining an academic load of at least six credit hours per semester (eight credit hours per quarter);
AND
In good standing with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher;
AND
Have successfully completed training as a College Intern 2 or 56 semester 84 quarter) hours of coursework in the degree program.
AND
Currently enrolled in and attending upper division classes in a declared major related to the body of work to be performed.

Academic transcripts and/or tuition billings may be construed as proof of enrollment.
Appointment and retention in this class series is restricted to students actively pursuing an undergraduate degree program in an accredited college and maintaining an academic load of at least six semester (eight quarter) credit hours per semester (quarter).
Students who have completed spring semester courses and are enrolled in fall semester courses are considered to be attending college during the summer regardless of whether or not summer courses are taken.
Upper division courses means courses that are specialized indepth and advanced. Such courses emphasize problemsolving analytical thinking skills and theoretical applications with depth and rigor in a disciplines theories and methods; specialization in a particular field or profession; refinement of general education; and/or development of specific intellectual and professional skills. Upper division courses are commonly identified in college catalogs as 300 level and higher.
Students who have completed spring semester courses and are enrolled in fall semester courses are considered to be attending college during the summer regardless of whether or not summer courses are taken

APSIN CLEARANCE
Due to the nature of the work of Office of Information Technology and access to Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) at the workplace the individual who is selected for this position will be required to pass a background investigation and may be refingerprinted. Full disclosure of ALL past criminal convictions (both misdemeanor and felony including suspended impositions of sentence) at the time of application is required. Convictions may lead to disqualification due to the requirements necessary to access these systems.

This position is flexibly staffed. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidates credibly possessed and proven competencies. If hired at the lower level you will be promoted to the higher level after completing the training plan and demonstrating competency in the work.
