Teaching responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate astronomy and physics courses at all levels with an opportunity to develop interdisciplinary honors and general education courses for nonscience majors. For carrying out these responsibilities faculty will have access to the stateoftheart Culp Planetarium a 6000squarefoot interactive fulldome classroom with a 50foot NanoSeam dome Spitz SciDome software and a 4k digital projection system. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop and maintain an active research program involving undergraduate students collaborate with faculty on curriculum and program development and work jointly with the Culp Planetarium Director and faculty to contribute to the Department and wider University through service responsibilities.
The B.S. Physics program at High Point University values engaging and effective teaching the integration of computation experiment and theory across the curriculum and undergraduate research The program seeks a dynamic individual who will embrace these values and is passionate about mentoring undergraduates. Successful applicants will have access to startup and institutional research and professional development funding and laboratory and office space in the 128000squarefoot Wanek School of Natural Sciences which includes innovative classroom and laboratory spaces and the Culp Planetarium. A Ph.D. in physics or closely related field is required by the time of appointment.
