The School of Psychology is one of the largest and most prestigious schools in Australia. The School is located
in the Faculty of Science and has approximately 50 full time members of academic staff 15 general staff and an
operating budget of over $12M.
The School is very active in research with most staff holding external research funding. The School has extensive laboratory facilities for both research and teaching and receives almost $15M per annum in competitive research funding. For further information about the School please visit Supervising Psychologist is responsible for the supervision and training of provisional psychologists at UNSW psychology clinics.
About the role
$123k $138k plus 17 Superannuation annual leave loading (pro rata)
Clinical Loading $12000 (pro rata)
Fixed Term 12 months
Parttime 14 hours per week)
The Supervising Psychologist reports to the Master of Psychology (Clinical) Clinic Director and has no direct reports.
Specific responsibilities for this role include:
- Provide individual and group supervision of Master of Psychology (Clinical) program students in relation to adult cognitive assessments (Intellectual functioning Specific Learning Disorders ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorders). The role may also provide supervision for adult therapy presentations or adolescent cognitive assessments dependent on qualifications skills and experience.
- Manage learning and evaluate development of provisional psychologists by observing guiding and providing feedback on interactions with clients.
- Provide learning opportunities and training support to trainee psychologists within the Clinic and Masters program.
- Ensure the provision of highquality assessment treatment and management of clients in the care of the Clinic with oversight of caseloads of provisional psychologists.
- Participate in and conduct educational activities within the Masters program.
- Participate in the Master programs development and evaluation including provision of timely and ongoing feedback to the Clinic Director regarding the clinics effectiveness as well as individual student and group performance in accomplishment of the programs outcomes.
- Demonstrate effective problemsolving to enhance the quality efficiency and effectiveness of training and services provided within the clinic to students and clients.
- Contribute to the clinic supervisory cover roster.
- Develop clinic protocols and resources and provide high level advice influencing the policies procedures and strategic direction of the clinic and Masters program.
- Adhere to privacy confidentiality and other professional and ethical requirements defined by UNSW policy State and Federal legislation registration bodies (AHPRA) and professional standards defined by Psychologists Board of Australia and professional associations (APS).
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to work collaboratively within and across multidisciplinary teams.
- Align with and actively demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values.
- Ensure hazards and risks psychosocial and physical are identified and controlled for tasks projects and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility.
About the successful applicant
(Selection Criteria)
- To be successful in this role you will have:
- A postgraduate level qualification in a relevant field with significant relevant post qualification experience.
- Registered psychologist with AHPRA with endorsement in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology. Board approved supervisor with demonstrated post qualification clinical experience.
- Significant demonstrated experience in supervision of Provisional and/or Registered Psychologists.
- Strong clinical psychology or clinical neuropsychology skills with respect to cultural consideration of clients risk assessment clinical intervention with a variety of client presentations.
- Sound stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal skills especially in relation to provision of effective feedback.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively flexibly and productively within a team collaborating across disciplines and building effective relationships and to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSWs aims objectives and values in action together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
