As the Director of Melbourne Climate Futures (MCF) you will lead a pioneering interdisciplinary initiative focused on advancing the University of Melbournes leadership in addressing the global challenge of climate change. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive research excellence foster collaborations and amplify the Universitys contribution to climate action on a national and international scale. The Director reports to the Deputy ViceChancellor (DVC Research) on strategic matters and to the Dean of the Melbourne Law School on administrative and operational matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing executive leadership of MCF including chairing the Executive Management Committee and collaborating with key University stakeholders
- Engaging with the MCF Advisory Board to guide priorities and engagement activities
- Leading the development and implementation of University priorities related to climate change research and action
- Building and maintaining strategic relationships with external agencies organizations and individuals to secure resources and facilitate MCF activities
- Overseeing key strategic research partnerships and contributing to government agendas and policy related to climate change
You may be a great fit if:
You are a Professor at the University of Melbourne with an exemplary research track record in a relevant field. You have prior experience in a leadership role within a university or research institution. You appreciate the role of worldclass research in delivering high impact in interdisciplinary climate policy. You have a demonstrable track record of successful facilitation and relationship building. You can effectively represent the Universitys interests when dealing with external stakeholders at all levels.
You may also
- Have experience in leading largescale interdisciplinary research initiatives
- Possess a strong network in the climate change research and policy community
- Demonstrate a passion for driving meaningful change in climate action
- Have experience in securing funding and resources for research programs

Your new team Melbourne Law School is Australias first allgraduate law faculty. The Melbourne Law School was the first faculty in Australia to teach law and awarded this countrys first law degrees.
