Your next career opportunity
As a Future Fire Analyst youll play a crucial role in the ARC MidCareer Industry Fellowship project working closely with Victorias leading fire management agencies. Youll analyse the effectiveness of current risk mitigation activities assess climate change impacts and develop innovative tools to support longterm bushfire risk management. This position offers you the opportunity to conduct cuttingedge applied research that directly influences realworld fire management strategies.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct Advanced Data Analysis and Modelling: Utilise agency university and external data to assess risk mitigation strategies and climate change impacts on fire management activities.
  • Develop Innovative Tools: Create a flexible prescribed burn prioritisation tool to enhance decisionmaking processes.
  • Engage with Industry Experts: Lead expert elicitation workshops and collaborate regularly with agency staff to codesign and communicate project results.
  • Contribute to Research Output: Publish highimpact academic papers and present findings at conferences and seminars.

You may be a great fit if:

You are a skilled researcher with a strong background in fire risk climate change or environmental management possessing excellent analytical and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in a multidisciplinary environment.

You may also:

  • Hold a Bachelors Masters or PhD in fire risk climate change environmental management or a related field.
  • Have experience with Geographic Information Systems and geospatial analysis.
  • Demonstrate a track record of independent research and publications commensurate with your experience.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with industry partners.
  • Have a strong aptitude for data analysis modelling and clear communication of complex information.

Your new team School of Agriculture Food and Ecosystem Sciences

The School of Agriculture Food and Ecosystem Sciences has a vision of science for flourishing environments and communities.
