Penguin Random House is currently seeking an Editor for demandfocused trenddriven original titles and adaptations across a variety of genres. This unique role will work on all aspects of quickly bringing nonfiction books to market such as analyzing trend data sourcing content participating in positioning titles developing and editing manuscripts and managing metadata.

Other responsibilities include:

1. Incubating a datadriven publishing program and monitoring trends within and outside of the industry.
2. Developing and maintaining relationships with writers and journalists across a range of nonfiction categories.
3. Creating P&Ls negotiating contract terms and consulting with legal on projects when needed.
4. Delivering conceptual structural and line edits to freelance writers.
5. Liaising with other internal departments (i.e. production managing editorial sales etc..
6. Collaborating with design teams to shape and execute the vision for titles.
7. Reviewing and approving cover copy as well as advertising and publicity materials.
8. Considering opportunities for backlist titles and repackaging existing content.

• Minimum of 5 years of commercial trade book editorial experience from original concept to bound book
• Strong interest in nonfiction titles including a driving interest in unearthing consumer trends through data analysis
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proven ability to juggle multiple projects while adhering to tight deadlines within a fastpaced environment
• Highly proficient with software and other tools used for editing reviewing uploading and transferring manuscripts and promotional materials
