POSITION SUMMARY: The Chief Information and Technology Officer (CITO) provides strategic leadership and vision for technology integration infrastructure and innovation across the Issaquah School District. The CITO is responsible for ensuring that technology supports academic excellence operational efficiency and equitable access to digital resources. This position oversees all aspects of instructional and administrative technology cybersecurity data management and emerging technology initiatives. The CITO leads the Information Technology Infrastructure Educational Technology and Student Information Systems departments and oversees data analysts responsible for districtwide data reporting and analysis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Cabinet and advise the Superintendent and School Board on technology related initiatives.
  • Collaborate with district leadership school administrators and educators to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Lead and supervise the Information Technology Infrastructure Educational Technology and Student Information Systems teams including training and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and manage the districts technology budget in alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal funding requirements for technologyrelated grants and programs.
  • Establish district policies and procedures for technology use security and ethical standards.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a districtwide technology vision aligned with educational and operational goals.
  • Establish short and longterm technology plans that support teaching learning and district administration.
  • Ensure the integration of technology enhances student learning equity and accessibility.
  • Attend all school board meetings; prepares materials and makes presentations in areas of responsibility.
  • Possess knowledge of and adhere to Governing Policies and District Regulations and Procedures.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned and perform related duties and key responsibilities consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
Technology Infrastructure and Security:
  • Manage the districts Information Technology Infrastructure Educational Technology and Student Information Systems to ensure reliability security and scalability.
  • Implement cybersecurity best practices to safeguard student staff and district data.
  • Direct disaster recovery and business continuity planning for technology systems.
  • Oversee technology vendor relationships and procurement processes to ensure costeffective solutions.
Instructional Technology Leadership:
  • Coordinate with curriculum leaders to align technology with instructional priorities and student learning outcomes.
  • Provide guidance on emerging educational technologies and digital learning strategies.
  • Direct the creation and implementation of professional development programs to support staff in integrating technology effectively. Monitor the effectiveness of such efforts.
Data Governance and Analytics:
  • Supervise district data analysts and lead the development and enforcement of business rules for reporting. Ensure data integrity security and accessibility of student and operational data to support accurate consistent and datadriven decisionmaking.
  • Direct the development and implementation of data management and reporting systems.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations on student and staff data privacy.
QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION: Masters degree in Educational Technology Information Systems Business Administration or a related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE:Minimum of five 5 years of leadership experience in technology management preferably in an educational setting. Further the individual will possess:
  • Proven track record in strategic planning technology implementation and cybersecurity oversight.
  • Experience leading largescale technology initiatives and managing enterpriselevel IT infrastructure.
  • Strong background in data governance analytics and compliance with student data privacy laws.
  • Experience supervising teams across multiple technology domains including IT Infrastructure Educational Technology Student Information Systems and Data Analytics.
  • Strong leadership communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to align technology initiatives with district educational and operational priorities.
  • Expertise in network security cloud computing data systems and instructional technology.
  • Ability to manage budgets contracts and technology procurement processes.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to educational technology and student data privacy.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:Valid WA State drivers license and appropriate insurance required. Relevant IT or leadership certifications preferred.
CONTINUING EDUCATION/TRAINING: Ongoing professional development in technology leadership cybersecurity and emerging education technologies.
CLEARANCES: Criminal Justice fingerprint/Background Clearance
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
