Essential Job Duties
- Regularly services and greases school busses and automotives.
- Makes minor repairs to gasoline and dieselpowered equipment.
- Keeps simple records.
- Changes and repairs tires.
- May assist in bus inspections in accordance with sectionMCA.
- Assists in major repairs and diagnostics.
- Perform tire mounting balancing alignment and rotation.
- May use welding equipment.
- Follows District safety procedures in shop area.

- Knowledge of safe work and driving practices.
- Ability to use and maintain standard shop tools and equipment safely.
- Perform heavy physical labor.
- Safely and efficiently operate a school bus.

Required Qualifications
- Any combination of training education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
- Experience in maintenance and repair and diagnostics of bus truck and automotive equipment.
- Good driving record and work history demonstrating dependability and reliability.
- Knowledge of tools methods and materials used in basic vehicle and equipment diagnostic and repair.
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful experience as a bus mechanic.
Necessary special requirements:
- Possession of valid Montana commercial drivers license accompanied by satisfactory medical/DOT examination report
- Holds valid basic First Aid/CPR certificate or must be able to obtain within 90 days of hire date.
- Holds valid TR35 Form (issued after hire).
- Successfully pass a background check as required by the State of Montana.

Hand and power tools other bus truck and automotive devices.
Physical and Mental Demands and Work Hazards
- Frequently required to stand for extended periods of time; twist at neck and bend at waist; kneel; lay on his/her back to examine undercarriage of buses and other school vehicles.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- May be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. This position is physically demanding.
- Regularly works inside and outside.
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Required to be able to hear conversations in loud and quiet environments.
- Guidance and reinforcement are usually available.
- The employee frequently works within time constraints and must maintain attentiveness intensity.
- Frequently involved in interactions which require oral and written communications.
- Exercises flexibility and the ability to shift from one task to another.
- Occasional travel/mobiility between schools or between schools and the Administration office may be required.
- Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.

- Work area is generally a hazard free environment.
