The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Physician 3 for the Stafford Creek Corrections Center in Aberdeen WA

This position supports the departments mission to improve public safety by delivering and working in close liaison in the delivery of medical care that promotes health foster healing and support coping and adjusting to various health conditions. This position supports the mission of health services by providing necessary comprehensive quality health services and supporting incarcerated individual wellness.

As an integral member of the health services team incumbent works in close liaison with Physicians ARNPs Physician Assistants and other AHCC medical mental health and administrative staff. Serves as the Physician under the supervision of the Facility Medical Director. Analyze directs and coordinates medical care provided to incarcerated individuals at AHCC. Collaboratively develops directs and supervises implementation and ongoing coordination of a systems approach to the provision of health care to include development of a populationbased demand management. Actively participates in Coordinated Quality Improvement Program (CQIP)

Duties

Direct Patient Care:

  • Assesses physical and emotional conditions of patients during nursing tirage ambulation care clinics infirmaryrounds and initiates appropriate intervention according to Health Services policies and procedures treatment plans and protocols.
  • Maintains accurate legible and complete records of patient care using forms and format as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Responds to health care emergencies throughout the facility and institution grounds as needed.
  • Participates in care review committees as assigned/directed.

Administrative Duties:

  • Responds to verbal and written requests from the general public incarcerated individuals incarcerated individuals families and institution staff as assigned and directed.
  • Participates in Health Services staff meetings at the institution and departmental level to plan for changes or improvements in service to review current operations of the health care program and to discuss continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Participates in care review committee meetings as assigned.
  • Chart reviews as assigned.

Safety and Security Responsibilities:

  • Completes DOC inservice training as required.
  • Accepts emergency assignment in the event of a disturbance.
  • Assists with continuing education and inservice training of health care staff as directed.
  • Cooperates and collaborates with security.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an ACGME/ABOM accredited residency program.
  • Board certification in an ABMS/ABOM certified specialty with Internal Medicine preferred. Board eligible physicians may be considered with continued employment contingent upon achieving board certification within 24 months of hiring date (unless the incumbent employee was in the position prior to December 21 2019
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Washington State.
  • Unrestricted DEA license with waiver to prescribe buprenorphine 4 Very Important for opioid use disorder.
  • Physicians without an active buprenorphine waiver will be considered however continued employment will be contingent upon receipt of waiver within 60 days of hiring date.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers certified within 60 days of hire.
  • Certification must be maintained by the employee as a requirement for continuous employment.
  • Expierence supervising and/or directing health care delivery operations.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Expierence working as an internist in an acute/chronic care setting or correctional facility.
  • Certification as a Correctional Health Professional.
