Job Description

Introduction

Welcome to the Maryland Department of Healths (MDH) PublicHealth Internship Program (formerly known as the Public Health Workforce Development Internship Program)! We invite you to join us for our Summer2025 cohort. This program is designed to establish collaborative partnershipswith academic institutions providing invaluable student internshipopportunities and fostering a seamless transition from graduation to the publichealth workforce.

The Summer session will span 10 weeks running from June 42025 August 12 2025. We invite undergraduate and graduate students with astrong academic standing and a specific interest in public health to apply. Toaccommodate different preferences and circumstances we offer a range ofoptions including remote hybrid and inperson internship the 10week period students can work up to a maximum of 400 hoursaveraging approximately 40 hours per week.

Our program encompasses various exciting areas of thiscohort including Behavioral Sciences Community Health Epidemiology HealthEducation Health Informatics Health Policy Healthcare AdministrationInfectious Disease Preparedness and Response and Public HealthCommunications.

To ensure a tailored experience please complete asupplemental questionnaire that allows you to indicate your preferred subjectareas your interest in inperson remote or hybrid opportunities and thecounty or counties where you would like to intern. Rest assured that yourapplication will be reviewed by program managers who match the criteria youselect.

While students may be considered for multiple openingsplease note that selected students will be hired for only one students can only accept one opening. To complete yourapplication please remember to submit a copy of your unofficial transcripts.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Main Purpose of Job

Interns will be employed in various roles supportingdifferent departments throughout Maryland Department of Health. Internswill be engaged in various projects that uphold MDHs mission to promote andimprove the health and safety of all Marylanders through disease preventionaccess to care quality management and community engagement. MarylandDepartment of Health is comprised of 5 administrations: Public HealthAdministration (PHA) Maryland Medicaid Administration (MMA) Developmental DisabilitiesAdministration (DDA) Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) anrations. All projects within the MDHPublic Health Internship Program play an important rolein Marylands public health system.

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Candidates must possess the following:

    • At least 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university with current enrollment in an undergraduate program OR candidates must becurrently enrolled in a graduate program.

    • Must have at least a 2.5 GPA or equivalent.

    • Recent graduates from an accredited college or university may also apply.

    • Recent graduates are defined as individuals who have completed a bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or university on or after May 1 2024.


    Transcripts must be submitted at time of application. Transcripts may be unofficial. Transcripts submitted after the closing date will not be accepted.
