Assistant/Associate/Full Professor
The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine is currently seeking applicants for an open rank tenure or nontenure track faculty member for our Cardiovascular Intensive care Unit.
As a faculty member in the Department of Surgery you will join an outstanding multidisciplinary surgical and critical care team as an intensivist in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit in the New Heart and Vascular Surgery Tower. There are opportunities for rotations in the Thoracic and Vascular Units on a rotational basis with your colleagues. Your primary clinical mission is provide critical care for the Cardiac Surgery patients. UF Health is a major referral Center for Complex Cardiac Surgery for the SouthEast including aneurysms dissections minimally invasive and transcatheter valves etc. The team is supported with excellent midlevel providers and residents as part of the Hospital Critical Care Organization. In addition if you wish you can participate in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation patient cannulation and coverage (ECMO) Surgical/operative time research opportunities and educational focus are all negotiable.
Specific educational duties include medical student and resident education rotating on your service. You will also be expected to assist with the teaching of surgical residents through the levelspecific didactic curriculum and medical students through the 3rd year rotation small group sessions. Finally you will also participate in the training of the Surgical Critical Care Acute Care Surgery and TCV fellows as well as all Critical Care Fellows that rotate through your ICU/s.
Significant opportunities are potentially available for clinical translation or basic science research with the University of Florida Sepsis and Critical Illness Research Center and other Laboratories in the University Department of Surgery.
Salary is negotiable based on education and experience.
This position requires an MD degree or equivalent; board certification or eligibility in general surgery as well having completed a critical care fellowship (board certification or eligibility in surgical critical care). Excellent communication skills and evidence of collaborative work are required.
