WATCH: Summary/Description:
WMTV has an opening for a Technical Media Producer/ Assistant Engineer. The Technical Media Producer (TMP) is responsible for operating the equipment in our control center that keeps WMTVs programming onair and online. The TMP directs live and prerecorded productions as assigned using our Ross Overdrive production automation system paired with coding in ENPS to deliver a quality News Show. The TMP also handles all master control duties in our facility such as recording playback switching and qualitychecking programming for air. The Assistant Engineer aspect of this role will involve some IT and backend technical work relating to installation projects and routine maintenance of equipment expanding on the frontend experience that comes from being a TMP.
WMTV is seeking a TMP with an interest in engineering to join our team. The right candidate will be a team player with a passion for putting on a quality show along with an excitement for working in a team atmosphere. This person will direct newscasts operate our control room troubleshoot equipment problems and handle some engineering maintenance and installation tasks.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Monitoring and quality control of all inbound and outbound / broadcast signals as well as ensuring that all content airs as intended and logged
Maintaining compliance with relevant FCC and other governmental agency regulations
Directing assigned live and prerecorded productions using Ross Overdrive production automation
Preparing the production rundowns for automation operation by coding the rundown in the AP ENPS / Ross Overdrive plugin
Editing video for playback and working closely with the news team to ensure quality
Field directing Special projects including WMTVs Share your Holidays UW Madisons Homecoming Parade and our On the Road segment
Understanding of all relevant equipment in the studio production and technical core areas
Maintaining and ensuring the operation of broadcast equipment
Qualifications/Requirements:
2 years of previous broadcast or production experience with master control or production control is preferred but we will train the right person. Ross Overdrive experience is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly and thoroughly
Proven track record of prioritizing complex tasks
Ability to communicate effectively written and verbal
Strong commitment to working effectively with and both being trained by and training others in a team environment is a must
Positive attitude and ability to adapt to changes
Must be open to working holidays and weekends
