The UH Hilo School of Education serves as a resource to area educators teaching in a culturally rich and diverse setting and conducts as well as guides action research to expand knowledge of teaching and learning providing highquality integrated inquiry and placebased undergraduate and graduate programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Teach undergraduate campusbased and webbased courses in Elementary Education graduate courses in other educationrelated areas as needed and assigned.
  2. Advise students.
  3. Supervise teacher candidates in schools.
  4. Engage incurriculum developmentprogram assessment and accreditation.
  5. Engage in scholarly work and publication.
  6. Perform service tothe institution and discipline.
  7. Engage in partnerships with schools education agencies outofschooltime(OST) programs and the Hawaii Department of Education.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. or Ed.D. at the time of appointment.
  2. Minimum of three years of K6 classroom teaching experience.
  3. Demonstrated ability to teach preservice elementary teacher education courses.
  4. Evidence of the ability to establish a productive research agenda.

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Evidence of successful experience in working with various K6 schools in Hawaii or other schools with diverse populations.
  2. Evidence of successful experience with school accreditation program evaluation or data teams.
  3. Evidence of successful experience working with preservice or inservice elementary teachers in mathematics or literacy.
  4. Evidence of experience mentoringcoachingorsupervising students.
  5. Evidence of experiencewith culturally responsive pedagogy and/or placebased teaching.
