Job Title:IT Generalist
Department:Information Technology
Reports to: Director of Information Technology
Purpose of the Position:
The IT Generalist is responsible for providing comprehensive technical support managing IT infrastructure and ensuring the smooth operation of all technology systems within the organization. The IT Generalist acts as a key team member in maintaining and troubleshooting computer systems software applications network connectivity and security protocols ensuring that all employees have access to reliable efficient and secure technology resources. Additionally the IT Generalist collaborates with other IT professionals to implement and support organizational technology projects ensuring that systems are optimized for performance security and scalability.
Experience Required:
  • At least 23 years of handson experience in IT support systems administration or a related field.
  • Proficiency in working with various operating systems (Windows macOS Linux) and knowledge of system administration tasks.
  • Experience with managing and supporting IT infrastructure including servers desktops networking devices and peripheral equipment.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP DNS DHCP VPN and wireless technologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting and configuring routers switches firewalls and other networking hardware.
  • Basic understanding of network security protocols and practices.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining computer hardware (desktops laptops printers etc. and peripherals.
  • Handson experience installing configuring and supporting common software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite email clients and antivirus tools.
  • Familiarity with managing system updates patches and ensuring compliance with security policies.
  • Basic knowledge of IT security protocols firewalls encryption and antivirus solutions to ensure the protection of data and systems.
  • Experience managing user access controls and permissions for systems and applications. Familiarity with implementing and maintaining backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience with monitoring tools to track system performance identify issues and ensure the reliability of IT infrastructure.
  • Ability to perform basic system diagnostics and implement solutions to optimize system performance.
  • Experience providing tier 1 or tier 2 support in a helpdesk or IT support environment including troubleshooting user issues related to software hardware and network connectivity.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and communicate technical information effectively to nontechnical users.
  • Ability to collaborate with other team members and departments to meet business objectives and improve IT systems.
  • Experience creating and maintaining accurate documentation for systems configurations network setups and standard operating procedures.
  • Familiarity with IT ticketing systems for managing and tracking technical issues.
  • Willingness to stay uptodate with the latest technological advancements and trends in IT to enhance support capabilities and efficiency.
Description of Job Duties:
  • Provide technical assistance to system network and database administrators by troubleshooting hardware software and network issues. Help resolve technical challenges to ensure the administrators can efficiently manage systems and infrastructure.
  • Support system administrators in managing maintaining and troubleshooting server environments and operating systems. Aid in the configuration and optimization of systems ensuring they are secure reliable and performing at their best.
  • Collaborate with network administrators to assist with the configuration maintenance and troubleshooting of network systems including LAN WAN and wireless networks. Help ensure smooth network connectivity and performance enabling administrators to focus on larger network management tasks.
  • Install configure and maintain hardware (desktops laptops printers etc. and software applications across the organization. Deploy new software and maintain uptodate systems ensuring enduser devices are ready for use.
  • Assist IT security administrators in enforcing security protocols including configuring firewalls antivirus software and user access controls. Help identify and resolve security vulnerabilities to safeguard the organizations data and infrastructure.
  • Support backup administrators by ensuring regular system backups are completed. Help with testing and restoring data in the event of a failure ensuring that administrators can execute disaster recovery plans smoothly.
  • Help maintain accurate documentation of system configurations network designs and technical procedures. Ensure administrators have uptodate reference materials to maintain and manage systems effectively.
  • Work closely with system network and security administrators on IT projects such as hardware and software upgrades system migrations and new technology implementations. Provide support to ensure smooth of these initiatives.
  • Provide training for end users on system applications troubleshooting methods and security practices. Help ensure that employees can effectively use technology.
  • Support administrators in tracking and managing IT hardware software and licensing inventories. Assist in maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance with internal asset management policies.
  • Help monitor system performance and alerts providing support to administrators in identifying issues before they become critical. Assist with the early detection of system or network failures allowing administrators to take prompt action.
  • Serve as an additional support layer for help desk operations assisting administrators in resolving userreported issues quickly and efficiently. Escalate complex technical problems to the appropriate administrative team members when necessary.
