POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The PEAK Program Teacher is responsible for providing differentiated learning opportunities to qualified PEAK students cofacilitating overall program development and evaluation and planning and facilitating professional development opportunities for teachers and other staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Plan and teach appropriate differentiated curricula to identified students in grades 35 PEAK program.
In conjunction with the school principal 3rd5th grade teachers and other PEAK teachers coordinate appropriate services and programming for identified PEAK students in grades 35. This may include pullout coteaching/pushin and/or coplanning.
In conjunction with the school principal and 3rd5th grade teachers coordinate services and provide programming for highability students during differentiated walktos.
Maintain accurate evidence of student learning to use for report cards communication with classroom teachers parentteacher conferences and other parent communication and identifying learning needs in PEAK.
Expertise in the nature and needs of gifted children.
Ability to communicate effectively with students teachers administration school board parents and community.
Adheres to professional expectations regarding confidential information.
Ability to multitask.
Good judgment and initiative in making decisions and taking effective action.
Performs duties with only occasional instruction or assistance.
PROGRAM COORDINATION:
When requested work with the principal when determining class placements to ensure an appropriate balance of PEAK students in general education classrooms.
Organize and manage the annual identification process which includes parent and school communications testing students and disseminating testing results based on qualifications.
Participate in regularly scheduled PEAK Program staff meetings. Provide program updates to the PEAK Program Director on a regular basis.
Participate in 3rd5th grade PLC meetings for walkto planning as needed.
Communicate effectively with parents including parentteacher conferences annual review of testing processes and initiation presentations for identified students.
As needed cofacilitate parent and stakeholder education opportunities on relevant gifted education topics.
Upon request prepare and/or present program updates to the Board of Education or the Administrative Team.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
Systematically consult (in and out of class) with teachers regarding differentiated PEAK Program curricula.
Upon request develop organize and teach staff development courses on various gifted education topics for teachers.
Stay current on best practices in gifted education.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Expertise in the nature and needs of gifted children.
Ability to communicate effectively with students teachers administration school board parents and community.

Education License Certification or Formal Training:
Minimum 3 years of teaching experience.
Valid teaching certificate preference given to candidates with a certificated endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education or coursework in gifted education. (Applicants must have or be able to obtain a Wyoming Teaching Certificate through the Professional Teaching Standards Board .
Experience in gifted education instruction and program management.
Preferred: Masters Degree in gifted education and/or National Board CertificationExceptional Needs.
Candidate must plan to achieve a Gifted and Talented endorsement within two years
of being in the role.
The School District places employees on salary schedules on the basis of:
Wyoming experience.
Outofstate experience up to 7 years.
Degree: Bachelors Masters or Doctorate.
Semester Graduate Credits beyond Degree.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person may need to lift arms to write on chalk or marking board and occasionally stoop kneel crouch and reach 0 24 inches and up to 36 inches above the head. The employee is directly responsible for the safety wellbeing and work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed materialthe ability to adjust focus and exposure to screen(s) via technology. Hearing ability to monitor activity and presence of students and respond to communication with students and adults is required. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is normally low to moderate but may become loud when large groups are together in a room. The employee may be required to move from room to room to provide instruction and may have to maneuver in crowded hallways. The employee may be exposed to unpredictable weather conditions. This position is typically performed in a hazard free clean and healthy environment.
