Job Description

TheCollege of Health Professions at Bushnell Universityinvites applications for a full time twelve 12)month open rank faculty position in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling department for our CACREP accredited Masters degree. The successful candidate will serve as a core faculty member teaching clinical courses and may teach other courses depending on departmental needs. Faculty in the program prioritize collegiality while striving to be excellent teachers and scholars who are committed to teaching students to be competent and ethical counselors. This position will be located at the Eugene OR site or may be fully remote with occasional travel for graduation (as courses are primarily taught synchronously travel for residencies is not required).

Responsibilities

As this is primarily an inperson university for students faculty are expected to teach both synchronous and nonsynchronous classes. Specific teaching assignments will be determined based upon program need and the candidates expertise and interests. Faculty members are also expected to supervise field experience (including as a site supervisor for the Bushnell Counseling Clinic) maintain leadership in the counseling profession through scholarly work peerreviewed presentations and/or service in the community or counseling organizations and engage in institutional service.

Bushnell Universitys Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is designed with the mission of Bushnell University in mind. Candidates are expected to abide by the Theological Context for Bushnell Community Lifeand to exhibit evidence of multicultural competencies.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Counselor Education necessary preferably from a CACREP accredited program. Candidates should be eligible for corefaculty status per CACREP 2024 standards and hold a professional counseling license. Preference will be given to candidates holding a current Oregon LPC or LMFT license. Ability to be licensed in Oregonis required. Relevant training for inperson and/or distance counseling supervision is requiredwith preference given to candidates with the Approved Clinical Supervisor Credential or those that are state licensed as counseling supervisors. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellence in teaching and supervision have more than 5 years of experience in the counseling field and have previously taught counselor education for at least two years synchronously or in an online format.
General for all Faculty
  • Maintain a fulltime teaching load (or equivalent) as described in the Faculty Handbook and as assigned by your supervisor.
  • As a teacherscholar actively engage with students in collaborative research and learning activities.
  • Provide a solid role model of wisdom faith and service.
  • Maintain and post regular office hours as specified in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Attend all regular and special faculty meetings.
  • Serve on faculty committees as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty within Faculty Handbook guidelines.
  • Submit updated course syllabi each semester to the office of the VPAA for each course taught.
  • Complete embedded course assessment and/or program assessment activities.
  • Facilitate the evaluation of each of your classes each semester and contribute to the evaluation of the curriculum and instruction ensuring the delivery of quality academic programs.
  • Contribute to development of library resources in area of teaching expertise.
  • Participate in academic and/or licensure advising as assigned.
  • Follow the current Faculty Handbook as it pertains to faculty roles and responsibilities.
  • Interact with the Registrars office in transcript evaluation and recording of student progress as required.
  • Actively participate in marketing of the programs as well as forming partnerships with colleagues and students where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the integration of faith and learning by addressing this issue in class and in curriculum standards.
  • Fulfill any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge of / Experience with:
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft software including Word Excel PowerPoint.
  • Experience utilizing email for the purposes of organizational communications.
  • Listening skills and the ability to speak and write clearly are essential to the position.
  • Individual must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
