GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


Do you have a passion for working with a team of dedicated individuals who strive to promote employment and advancement opportunities for individuals with disabilities If you have a background in counseling human services or social services would you enjoy the opportunity to advance your education with a nationally recognized masters degree or masters certificate in Rehabilitation Counseling Our local regional and statewide team of counselors and staff is connected passionate and committed to improving the quality of life of individuals with a disability. This position will offer you an opportunity to work with a wide variety of individuals including youth with disabilities in and out of school as well as adults and aging adults with disabilities in a wide variety of settings. This position assists in providing vocational rehabilitation services in Laramie County especially the high schools in the eastern half of the county out of the Cheyenne office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Assist individuals with a disability in obtaining maintaining and stabilizing employment in settings and securing accommodations if needed
  • Analyze information from interviews medical records consultations with other professionals and diagnostic evaluations to assess clients abilities needs limitations and eligibility for services
  • Locate barriers to client employment such as inaccessible work sites inflexible schedules or transportation problems and work with clients to develop strategies for overcoming barriers
  • Develop individualized plans for employment and rehabilitation for people with disabilities that fit clients aptitudes education levels physical abilities and career goals
  • Monitor and record clients progress to ensure that goals and objectives are met
  • Maintain close contact with clients during job training and placements to resolve problems and evaluate placement success
  • Collaborate with physicians therapists psychologists and other professionals as well as community organizations to ensure clients receive the rehabilitation services they need
  • Arrange for physical mental academic vocational and other evaluations to obtain information for assessing clients needs and developing rehabilitation plans
  • Maintain professionalism and strict confidentiality
  • Maintain client records and files and manage up to 100 cases at a time
  • Monitor and manage spending in individual client plans and your own individual or office budget
  • Encourage client selfdetermination selfadvocacy informed choice accountability and participation
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community referral sources such as schools and community groups
  • Utilize vocational assessments and information along with rehabilitation counseling support and empower clients to achieve empowerment and independence
  • Works closely with the local workforce services center and employers to help meet local employment needs
  • Provides job coaching skills and training to support successful employment outcomes
  • Conduct financial needs and resources assessments to determine if the client will be required to participate in the costs of the rehabilitation program

Qualifications


PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:


Preference may be given to candidates who are qualified to sit for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) exam.
Preference may be given to candidates with knowledge of local employers and educational institutions.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with youth with disabilities in the school setting and knowledge of IEP/504 and IDEA
Preference will be given to candidates with counselingrelated experience and an understanding of counseling theory and application
Preference will be given to candidates with strong case management organization and case documentation experience
Preference may be given to candidates with experience using Google and Microsoft software.

**The selected candidate is expected to enroll in and complete a masters in Rehabilitation Counseling program that is in accordance with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation policy. Funding for the degree will be a combination of agency funds and Rehabilitative Services Administration scholarships. The selected candidate will be expected to sign an education contract.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
BachelorsDegree (in Counseling or Social Services)

Experience:
03 years of progressive work experience (typically in Vocational Rehabilitation)
