The Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Oregon serves a variety of students with a wide range of needs and interests. The faculty of this department are committed to a liberal arts approach to theatre education and to maintaining the highest standards both in academic pursuits and in performance. We deeply believe in the value of theatre as a form of cultural formation and communication as well as a pathway for personal growth.
The Department of Theatre Arts invites applications to our open pool for pro tempore instructors. Qualified candidates will be able to teach a broad range of theatre courses including beginning acting movement for actors script analysis or dramatic literature. Successful candidates will have the ability to work effectively with faculty staff and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds and will be prepared to teach both theatre arts majors as well as students from varied disciplines. Positions are contingent on funding typically parttime or temporary assignments with an appointment for up to 1 year; but with the possibility of renewal for up to three years depending on need funding and performance.
Masters degree is required by the start of the appointment.
Teaching experience.
Successful candidates will have professional experience demonstrated ability or potential for quality teaching and a commitment to working effectively with students faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.
PhD in related field.
Three or more years of teaching experience.
