Fellowship Program Position: This Fellowship Program position is a fulltime temporary limited term assignment not to exceed three years from the date of hire. It is intended for applicants that have graduated with a bachelors degree or a masters degree from an accredited college or university within the last 12 months.

The Java Developer Fellow is responsible for assisting in computer programming and applications support. The incumbent will participate in small to large scale automation projects assist in researching compiling and analyzing data and support related activities. This position will proactively work with the application development team IT staff and agency employees.
WHAT WILL YOU DO
Application Development
Codes tests and debugs programs written in a variety of software languages with primary focus on Java.
Writes basic unit tests based on provided examples.
Builds simple to routine SQL statements and stored procedures.
Generates reports using report creation tools.
Attends and participates in code reviews.
Documents existing processes for TRS Staff to utilize as reference.
Performs research analysis or development tasks as assigned.
Support Functions
May assist in researching compiling and analyzing data; entering data into databases and other automated applications; and preparing simple queries and reports.
May review forms correspondence reports and other documents for completeness and acceptability.
May assist in reviewing and analyzing agency policies procedures and forms and recommending changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Assists in completing special projects and performs other work as assigned.
Fellowship Curriculum
Participates in trainings and projects related to the TRS Fellowship Program including webinars quarterly checkins classes or other learning activities book group projects and the mentoring program.
Meets TRS Fellowship Program deadlines and goals for completion of trainings in deliverables in a timely manner.

Performs related work as assigned.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING
Required Education
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in computer science computer engineering information technology or a closely related field awarded within the last 12 months.
Required Experience
None
Required Registration Certification or Licensure
None

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in software development through an internship boot camp or formal work environment.
Experience developing applications using Java J2EE/EJB and/or Angular.
Experience using Microsoft SQL Server including experience with SSRS SSIS and/or writing SQL queries and stored procedures.
Experience working with business intelligence enterprise service bus rules engines esignature and/or UX/UI development.
Experience working in or knowledge of Agile software development.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Basic principles practices and techniques of computer programming and systems analysis and design.
Varying technological architectures and technology trends.
Agency computing standards and development methodologies.
Skills in:
Analyzing problems and devising innovative and effective solutions including collecting and analyzing complex data evaluating information and business processes and drawing logical conclusions.
Writing basic computer programs.
Developing automated solutions for manual processes.
Providing effective customer service.
Communicating basic technical information to people of all levels of technical knowledge.
Project planning and management; planning organizing and coordinating work to meet frequent and/or multiple deadlines; and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
Managing conflicting priorities and demands.
Ability to:
Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with coworkers agency staff and external contacts.
Work effectively in a professional matrix team environment.




Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) Codes:
