M te tnga About the role
Leading a team of dedicated scientists at Taranaki Regional Council the Team Leader Land & Waterwill be instrumental in the coordination and delivery of the delivery of state of environment monitoring and reporting programmes and science research and investigations.
Managing various activities across the team including:
Supervising day to day management of land and soils water quantity and water quality state of environment monitoring and reporting programmes
Mentoring and developing scientists to ensure the timely delivery of technically robust and comprehensive science and research
Managing scientist workloads and identifying applicable training and development needs
Engaging with iwi/hap the science community and a range of internal and external stakeholders to drive improvement in environmental monitoring and reporting
Providing technical advice that aligns with best practice and based on sound knowledge of science methods and approaches to support the development and implementation of relevant policy and legislation
Interpreting and effectively communicating complex science to a range of audiences
As team leader you are responsible for building capability setting clear expectations and providing mentoring and development opportunities. Of course there will also be guidance and support from other team leaders Manager Science & Technology and the Director Environment Quality.
This position is fixed term for a period of 12 months.
