Job Description:
The Department of History at the University of Florida College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a fulltime ninemonth tenureaccruing position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 16 2025 in the field of Vast Early American history (before 1830.
The successful candidate should be able to contribute to the Department of Historys intellectual growth and emphasis on interdisciplinary and collaborative research. We especially welcome applicants who incorporate digital history into their scholarship public engagement or teaching.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching a diverse body of undergraduate and graduate students in Gainesville Florida and maintain a robust research and publishing agenda commensurate with a Research 1 institution. Teaching responsibilities include introductory upperdivision and graduate courses in Early American history. Equally important is the ability to contribute effectively to the departments graduate program: mentoring graduate students offering graduate seminars and chairing and serving on graduate committees (including serving on committees in other departments).
The National Academies of Science Engineering and Medicine has recently recognized the University of Florida as a Gulf Scholars Program Institution and candidates who can contribute to the Programs focus on research and teaching that addresses critical challenges facing the Gulf regions are particularly encouraged to apply.

Advertised Salary:
The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience and the compensation includes a full benefits package.
