The University of Florida (UF) Department of Pediatrics College of Medicine Jacksonville is seeking a fulltime nontenue track Adolescent Medicine Physician who is boardcertified/boardeligible in Pediatrics. The position will be at the Clinical Assistant/Associate or Full Professor rank depending on qualifications and experience and will provide outpatient primary and subspecialty care for adolescent patients in an academic medical setting at UF Health Jacksonville. The clinician will join the General Academic Pediatric division that includes 11 primary care pediatric practices located throughout Jacksonville including one in southern Georgia.
Clinical work will include but not be limited to the areas of adolescent primary care mental health wellness behavioral health disorders reproductive and sexual health care eating disorders school health substance abuse sports medicine and transition care.
In addition to clinical responsibilities the individual will also be involved with training pediatric residents and will assume responsibility for restructuring and facilitating the Adolescent Medicine Rotation. The faculty member will be encouraged to participate in quality improvement work and to collaborate with other members of the department on clinical research projects. There is an expectation to participate fairly in oncall rotation for evening and after hours call.
This position will report to the Chief of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine Jacksonville.
The University of Florida College of MedicineJacksonville is the largest of the three colleges at the Health Science Center Jacksonville. The college is affiliated with UF Health in Jacksonville a health system comprised of two hospitals the 603bed UF Health Jacksonville and 92bed UF Health North and more than 60 primary and specialty care practices throughout Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.
The colleges 16 clinical science departments house more than 440 faculty members 1560 staff and 384 residents and fellows as well as medical students from UF and around the country. We offer an incredible breadth of clinical training program sand proud to train many of best primary care providers and specialists throughout the region the state and the country.
The college offers 38 accredited graduate medical education programs and 14 nonstandard programs. More than 100 residents and fellows from programs across the U.S. come to UF College of Medicine Jacksonville to participate in various clinical rotations as well.
In addition to graduate medical education clinical rotations in all the major disciplines are provided for students from the UF College of Medicine in Gainesville. Thirdyear medical students enrolled at UF spend about 25 percent of their training at the Jacksonville campus gaining valuable experience in an urban setting. While thirdyear rotations are only offered to UF students elective rotations in the final year of clinical training are available to students from accredited schools in the US and Canada.
For practicing physicians the college offers a continuing medical education program that recruits national and international speakers who are well known and respected in their fields.
The colleges faculty residents and fellows are active in clinical research. Residents and fellows regularly present their findings at locations across the country and publish their projects in wellknown publications. In 2019 the campus received $23.1 million in external research funding approximately 50 of which was federally sponsored projects.
The campus houses a 16000squarefoot clinical and translational research facility. To support faculty and resident research the college has a Center for Data Solutions offering researchers analytics epidemiology and biostatistics support and a Center for Research Training helping develop the next generation of highly collaborative clinical researchers.
Located in the Northeastern part of the state on the Atlantic Ocean Jacksonvilles weather is sunny and pleasant. A graduate of an Adolescent Medicine Fellowship Training Program.
Licensed in the state of Florida or eligible for a Florida medical license.
