Salary Range: $5564 $7789/month

  • Sunday Thursday 11 am 7:30pm
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualifiedLicensed Practical Nurse (LPN4for the WA State Penitentiary in Walla Walla WA.
Under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse the Licensed Practical Nurse 4 supports the departments mission to improve public safety by assisting in the implementation of the nursing process and delivering services to promote health foster healing and support coping and adjustment to various health conditions.

Duties

Duties Include but are not limited to:

  • Administer medication.
  • Use tools techniques and physical and cognitive skills and abilities to practice nursing safety and effecively in the correctional setting and within the scope of practice defined by state law and administrative code so that patient care provided is safet effective efficient and clinically appropriate.
  • Provide competent patient care.
  • Selfevaluate and practice professional nursing conduct at all times.
  • Delegate and assign tasks to other staff as appropriate.
  • Provide effective communication and documentation.
  • All otheer task assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Initial and continuous unencumbered licensure in the State of Washington as a Licensed Practical Nurse
    OR
    An unencumbered Multistate License from a participating Compact Licensure State and completion of the MLS demographic survey.
  • Two years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Have American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Proficient using computerbased programs to schedule monitor and track patient information perform data entry and word processing and communicate via email as well as other programs that may be needed to complete assigned work.
Preferred/desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working as a nurse in an acute care setting or a correctional facility.

  • Requires respirator medical evaluation questionnaire fit testing training and use of respiratory protection as required by the WA Industrial Safety & Act standards. Refer to WAC 296842 to learn more.
  • Must be able to work in spaces climb stairs walk long distances and frequently lift up to 30 pounds. Under rare circumstances this position may be required to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 100 pounds.
