Passionate about placebased environmental education Join our wetland education team!
Wings & Water is a collaboration between Utah State University and The Nature Conservancy. We provide 4th grade wetland field trips at the Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve (GSLSP) and Wetland Discovery Point (WDP).
Our field trip season runs TuesdayThursday April thru May and Sept thru Oct. To learn more about the program visit: states/utah/wingsandwater
Candidates must have a positive attitude be dependable engaging open to learning proactive teamplayers and enjoy working outdoors in a variety of environments and weather conditions. Candidates must be professional in interactions with youth participants adult guardians staff volunteers and the public as a representative of USU Extension. Job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
As the Wetland Education Guide you will lead groups of 15 students & chaperones on wetland field trips. In preparation each day you will help prepare our facilities & gear then will lead school groups around the GSLSP boardwalk 2 mile loop). You will help expand understanding of the GSL wetland & watershed ecology features/behaviors of wetland species and other ecosystem highlights aligned with Utah SEEd standards.
When the boardwalk tour concludes youll move to WDP at USUs Botanical Center where the field trip will resume with handson activity rotations.

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors in an office space event space or public space are protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing).
Outdoors incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Additionally indoor or outdoor work environments may include being confined or in narrow spaces for periods of time. The incumbent may also be exposed to loud noises or vibrations from equipment and conditions that may affect the respiratory system such as fumes odors dusts mists gases and poor ventilation. Bending crawling and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift push and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
