About Us
ADF Health Services provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia. As part of this contract Serco in partnership with Bupa provide defenceready clinical and support staff across 50 onbase locations nationally ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality onsite medical care. As a Dental Assistant youll play a vital role in providing chairside assistance to our Dentist Dental Specialist or Hygienist during the delivery of dental services to our valued patients.
Your responsibilities encompass a diverse range of tasks aimed at ensuring smooth operations within the dental practice while upholding the highest standards of patient care.
Provide chairside assistance to the dental practitioner during dental procedures ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times.
Perform administrative tasks including accurately entering and updating patient records scheduling appointments and assisting with other duties as delegated by the Dentist.
Actively promote oral health education to patients advocating for optimal hygiene practices and preventive care measures.
Support the dental team in various activities maintaining compliance with all relevant standards regulations and procedures.
Contribute to the cleanliness and sterilization of dental instruments and equipment adhering to infection control protocols to ensure a hygienic environment.
Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team fostering a supportive and cohesive work environment to deliver the highest standard of care to our patients.
The Location
Larrakeyah Health Centre is located at the Larrakeyah Barracks in Darwin City. Larrakeyah Defence Precinct is a unique triservice Defence base directly supporting ADF operations & training. It is the home port of HMAS Coonawarra for Navy Patrol Boats and two Army Landing Craft. The facility has a routine dependency of 1100 personnel which surges every 3 months to conduct pre and post deployment medicals. The health centre provides primary medical nursing mental health dental physiotherapy and pharmaceutical services. Standard operating hours are generally 07:30 15:30 Monday Friday (depending on role requirements).
About You
As the ideal applicant you will have:
A minimum of 2 years (fulltime equivalent) experience within the last 5 years in a dental assisting role.
Recent engagement in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities to stay updated with industry standards and best practices.
Current certifications in First Aid (HLTAID011 and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009 ensuring preparedness for emergency situations.
Possession of a Certificate III in Dental Assisting or equivalent nationally recognized qualification demonstrating proficiency in dental assisting duties.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team contributing to the delivery of safe efficient and highquality patient care within a dental surgery setting.
Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Defence security clearance.
