This is a fulltime tenuretrack position as an Educator/Clinician in the Graduate Practice Program within the MUSC College of Nursing. The position is for the Lead Faculty role in a new Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program. The qualified candidate is expected to support the colleges teaching mission through didactic and clinical teaching in the MSN and DNP Programs and maintain clinical practice as an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner. Upon hire successful candidates are expected to relocate to the Charleston South Carolina area.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications: Earned masters degree as an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner (CPNPAC). Candidates should be eligible for South Carolina APRN licensure and hold national certification as a CPNPAC with at least two years of APRN practice experience in pediatric acute care. Candidates will have a minimum of one year of teaching experience. Successful candidates will have effective interpersonal communication and organizational skills and abilities. Current BLS and PALS certification from the American Heart Association American Red Cross or the Military Training Network. An MSNprepared candidate must enroll in a doctoral (DNP or PhD) program or begin a DNP or PhD program within the first two years of employment.

Preferred qualifications: The preferred candidate will have an earned DNP or doctoral degree in nursing or a related field and current national board certification as a CPNPAC. Demonstrated evidence of at least three years of prior teaching experience course development and maintenance experience leadership roles in the academic setting and a demonstrated program of scholarship is ideal. Teaching experience including precepting APRN students and experience with or interest in competencybased education casebased or problembased teaching is ideal focusing on studentcentric learning. Experience in graduate online teaching methods is preferred.

Formal Accountability: Reports to the Assistant Dean for Graduate Practice Programs

Responsibilities:

a) Assist the Assistant Dean for Graduate Practice Programs in leading organizing managing and evaluating the Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNPAC) track including collaboration with Course Coordinators and faculty to plan and organize courses and oncampus Learning Intensives ensuring alignment with accreditation and certification requirements.
b) Conduct annual reviews and ongoing updates of course content objectives and assessments to meet national nursing education standards (e.g. AACN Essentials NTF Quality Nurse Practitioner Education AONE and specialty organization guidelines).
c) Oversee student clinical placements each semester in collaboration with the Clinical Education Coordinator and designated faculty.
d) Serve as the primary advisor for students in the PNPAC track working closely with course faculty student services and the Assistant Dean for Graduate Practice Programs as needed.
e) Evaluate Learning Intensives and course feedback to recommend necessary revisions to the Assistant Dean for Graduate Practice Programs.
f) Review and update program handbooks clinical guidelines program policies and syllabus templates annually and as needed.
g) Facilitate innovative competencybased online teaching in an asynchronous environment and participate in oncampus Learning Intensives when not in clinical practice.
h) Lead and collaborate on faculty teams to develop review and revise curriculum and courses to ensure quality improvement and alignment with contemporary trends in graduate education and the AACN Essentials for Nursing Education.
i) Assist in recruiting and evaluating faculty and adjunct faculty within the PNPAC program ensuring timely completion of evaluations and making recommendations for improvement.
j) Engage in professional CPNPAC practice in an acute care setting as part of the faculty contract dedicating a minimum of 20 effort 8 hours/week). Clinical responsibilities and practice site arrangements will be established in collaboration with the CON Office of Practice and negotiated with affiliated practice partners.
k) Precept MUSC CON PNPAC students in the practice setting
l) Maintain CPNPAC credentials licensure and national certifications required to practice as a CPNPAC
m) Maintain a record of scholarship through dissemination presentations and publications that are consistent with the college appointment promotion and tenure (APT) guidelines
n) Oversee the supervision of PNPAC students in clinical settings evaluate clinical settings/preceptors
o) Facilitate DNP scholarly project work as assigned
p) Attend course program and college meetings in person or via webbased technology
q) Adhere to MUSC College of Nursing policies
r) Maintain proficiency as an educator and clinician
s) Support the colleges values for an environment and culture of respect inclusivity equity and belonging
