The Division ofEnterprise Research Infrastructure & Services (ERIS )Senior Systems Engineer develops manages and fosters innovation of a widearray of infrastructure systems and storage platforms for Massachusetts GeneralHospital (MGH) Brigham and Womens Hospital (BWH) McLean and their affiliatesof the research/teaching hospitals of Harvard Medical School. Thisposition will have a broad range of responsibilities including: maintenancedevelopment and advancement of the research archival storage and ourvirtualization and cloud hosting platforms along with innovation in theirsuccessors as the platforms evolve. Operational responsibilities such assystems administration deployment capacity planning and expansion are alsokey to this role. The Senior Systems Engineer will additionallyparticipate as a subject matter expert in enterprisewide technology planningand architecture including direct consultation with customers and the CloudArchitect to drive the direction of the overall platform.
Severalunifying characteristics define a successful candidate for this position: Aneagerness to adapt and apply new technologies and techniques to bolster theability of ERIS to support research projects versatility and breadth instorage and systems deployment ability to work independently outstandingcustomer service skills and the ability to help teams and projectssuccessfully accomplish their research objectives. The incumbent is notexpected to be deeply knowledgeable in all areas but must demonstrate theability and desire to learn how to support a large and diverse researchdatadriven environment in its use of all general compute components.
