This Project Manager position will be on a dynamic team responsible for engineering support acquisition management and life cycle support of surface naval platforms for our customer site in Tidewater Virgina area. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our national security.
This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain your active Secret level clearance. This position is also contingent upon an award of contract.
Serco supports the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) including support for the design acquisition testing and sustainment of naval vessels. You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer to deliver management engineering acquisition and logistics support required to conduct RDT&E trials system installations and maintenance and sustainment in support of Navy and other DoD and DHS maritime vessels. Serco has been supporting the Naval Sea Systems Command for over 50 years and has been recognized by both the Navy for their outstanding contributions.
In this role you will:
- Support the Program Manager in the planning direction and success of major projects systems development efforts and research or technology initiatives which have great significance to NAVSEA. Programs are typically large multiyear efforts divided into several subprograms/tasks.
- Be responsible for the program definition organization and direction of short and longrange plans.
- Responsible for formulating guiding and directing the technical approach; and defining and negotiation with activity and agency personnel for necessary resources.
- Establish and control technical milestones schedules budgets and costs.
- Collect technical data from appropriate documentation (e.g. technical manuals and internal and external reports) automated files and other staff.
- Determine and interpret equipment characteristics data performs necessary analysis and transcribes to required formats.
- Assist staff in moderately technical aspects of project work.
- Acquire a working knowledge of customer databases and of the types of information stored in each file.
- Assist in the training of less experienced staff.
- Assist in the preparation of appropriate technical documentation.
- As required verbally present information at project review sessions and in informal interface with customers.
- Comply with security procedures in the performance of duties.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Bachelors degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with7 years professional experience in Project Management.
- Experience in the operation management and sustainment of maritime vessels.
- An active Secret Security Clearance is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in technical writing.
- Proficiency with MSOffice software to include MS Word MS Excel MS Access and MS Power Point.
- Travel up to 10 may be required.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Project Management Professional Certification.
