Job Title: Physician Scientist Open Rank

Position #Requisition #36306

Job Summary:

The Division of Infectious Diseases is recruiting a fulltime faculty member at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (Anschutz Medical Campus) who will have primary duties in research scholarship and mentorship in the field. This physician scientist will play an important role in the Division of Infectious Diseases by advancing its missions in research. Applicants must have an MD degree. Research and scholarship responsibilities will include the establishment and/or maintenance of an independent extramurally funded research program. Clinical responsibilities will include inpatient and outpatient consultative services and participation in division educational activities. Applicants must have completed an accredited Infectious Diseases fellowship and be ABIM board eligible or board certified in Infectious Diseases. Applicants should have demonstrated aptitude for scholarly achievement. Experience in basic translational or clinical research in Infectious Diseases is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Infectious Disease Clinical Attending inpatient and outpatient.
  • Teach fellows and house staff
  • Publish new findings in top tier peerreviewed journals.
  • Maintain or apply for new research grants to support independent research.

    Work Location: This role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora CO.

Academic rank will be determined during the interview process after discussion between you and the department about your previous experience and academic desires.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor:

  • MD/DO (or equivalent) or MDPhD degree
  • Completion of ID fellowship at accredited program
  • Should be board certified/eligible

Associate Professor:

  • MD/DO (or equivalent) or MDPhD degree
  • Completion of ID fellowship at accredited program
  • Should be board certified/eligible

Professor:

  • MD/DO (or equivalent) or MDPhD degree
  • Completion of ID fellowship at accredited program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated publication record
  • Existing extramural funding or strong potential for it

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • ID clinical practice skills
  • Collegiality
  • Ability to liaison well with other inpatient services
  • Teaching and mentoring skills
  • Scholarly work according to interest and aptitude

The above salary range or hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is nonexempt.
