  • Our new Crisis Services program provide patients and families with timely effective care during a mental health crisis by initiating care in our EDs for patients who are currently experiencing a menta health crisis developing a new unit for patients not yet safe to go home who would benefit from a familycentered acute crisis intervention and establish a crisis clinic to provide rapid access to ambulatory treatment.
  • Our new Traverse Academy a schoolbased intensive mental health treatment program within the Cheery Creek School District is slated to open in Fall of 2023. It is an integrated school and intensive outpatient treatment center including specialized transition programming for students with significant and impairing emotional and/or behavioral disorders. The program is part of an effort to reduce risk for selfinjurious behavior and suicide through collaborative schoolacademic partnerships and facilitate a smooth transition from intensive treatment to the students home school.

Job Summary:

The Department of Psychiatry (DOP) at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CU) the Division of Child and Adolescent Mental Health (DCAMH) and the Pediatric Mental Health Institute (PMHI) of Childrens Hospital Colorado (CHCO) has an opening for a fulltime Faculty Psychologist within the CHCO PMHI with primary responsibilities in Crisis Services.

The CU DCAMH PMHI and CHCO are combining to transform childrens mental health care in Colorado building a coordinated system grounded in collaboration and partnership that provides all children highquality evidencebased youth and familycentered care through an ambitious and comprehensive strategic plan. As part of this transformative work we are creating an evidencebased comprehensive crisis care model to ensure patients and families receive timely effective care during a mental health crisis. We are looking for a psychologist to join our efforts in becoming a national leader in pediatric crisis services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical care to patients and families seen in PMHI crisis services which will span emergency room ambulatory and crisis stabilization clinical areas.
  • Collaborate with internal and external providers involved in a patients care
  • Provide clinical consultation for complex cases including extended stay patients
  • Conduct psychological assessment and/or functional assessments with patients as appropriate. Use results of assessments to inform development of individualized treatment plans and/or behavior plans as needed
  • Partner with PMHI leadership and clinical team members on the development implementation and ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of crisis services programming
  • Supervise teach and mentor mental health trainees
  • Engage in research scholarship and/or quality improvement projects
  • Serve on committees task forces and/or workgroups

    Supervision Received

    The Crisis Services Psychologist reports to the PMHI ClinicalDirector withmatrixed reporting to the PMHI Chief of Psychology for mentorship. The Crisis Psychologist will also have an indirect reporting structure to the Consultative Division leadership team which includes Medical Director and Associate Medical Director Associate Clinical Director and Manager and Associate Clinical Managers.

    Supervision Exercised

    The Crisis Services Psychologist will not supervise (e.g. hire terminate discipline and approve leave) other employees. There will be opportunities to provide supervision training and mentoring to mental health trainees.

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The starting salary range or hiring range for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

    Instructor Senior Instructor Assistant Professor: $105000 to $120000

    Associate Professor: $130000 to $145000

    Professor: $175000 to $205000

    The above salary range or hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is nonexempt.
