The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) is the largest of the seven regional autism programs in Florida. Funded through an annual legislative allocation the center serves over 23000 residents of central Florida on the autism spectrum across the lifespan through consultative individual and family support training and technical assistance and public awareness with a mission of optimizing the potential of people with autism and related disabilities. CARD is a clinical service center within the College of Health Professions and Sciences.
The College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) is home to nationally recognized programs focused on health and wellness and a respected faculty dedicated to teaching innovations and research partnerships. The college offers accredited programs in athletic training communication sciences and disorders physical therapy and social work. CHPS also offers one of UCFs largest majors health sciences as well as popular programs in sport and exercise science within the field of kinesiology. Through coursework field experience and interprofessional education our students develop highdemand skills in healthcare and communitybased initiatives for working with varied populations.
The Opportunity:
The Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Family Liaison will assist ASD Specialists and the Center Director by providing clinical support services and training for families of individuals with autism spectrum disorders. This will include clinical and educational support via direct facetoface and remote meetings helping to create action plans attending IEP/IFSP/ISP meetings providing support during home visits and parent education presentations. The position will also assist in the triage of needs for these clients participate in ASD screenings in the community and presentations and public awareness activities reflecting lifespan concerns that face families of children and adults with ASD.
The ASD Family Liaison is a member of a dedicated team of crossdisciplinary professionals with expertise in autism spectrum disorders and will work to support all individuals and communities with individuals with autism in that region.
Responsibilities:
Provide clinical and educational support via remote and facetoface meetings create action plans attend IEP/IFSP/ISP meetings provide support during home visits share basic information and informed recommendations regarding the services educational activities and lifespan concerns that face families of children and adults with ASD.
Assist with public awareness activities in the community serve on the panel for HISPA Autismo conference conduct support groups and present family workshops about topics relevant to Autism Spectrum and family issues.
Assist in the triage of needs for these clients and participate in ASD screenings in the community.
Support the CHPS mission through other duties as assigned.
The position requires a valid Class E drivers license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors and 2 years of relevant experience with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Familiarity with issues that affect families of children and adults with ASD.
Knowledge of educational policies applied behavior analysis family systems local and state resources for ASD educational methodologies in ASD presentation skills professionalism and experience in working with individuals at a variety of levels on the autism spectrum highly preferred.
Experience with Zoom Filemaker and Windows Office is preferred.
Member of a family living with ASD is preferred.

This is a Contract and Grant (C&G) funded position. Employment is subject to the availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $20.29 $24.57. The final salary will be determined based on the candidates qualifications experience and internal equity considerations.
