Job Duties
Western State Hospital is seeking a Primary Care Physician Assistant. This position is responsible for providing primary medical care to patients on units while reviewing and maintaining the standards of appropriate medical care.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of approved physician assistant training course and current certification is required; an active unrestricted Commonwealth of Virginia physician assistant license; knowledge of primary care at the physician assistant level with training in physical diagnosis pathology and medical therapeutics; should be able to recognize common manifestations of physical illness encountered in this type of patient population (such as upper respiratory infections chronic obstructive lung disease diabetes hypertension urinary tract infections etc).
Additional Considerations
Knowledge of laboratory evaluations and monitoring or psychopharmacologic agents preferred. Bilingual a plus. Veterans preference.
