Job Description:
Amherst College invites applications for the Casual Groundsperson position. The Casual Groundsperson is a parttime casual position with no benefits starting at $17.00/hour. Given Amhersts distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.
The Casual Groundsperson will maintain and care for the Colleges grounds and structures. The Casual Groundsperson takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the Colleges efforts to create a respectful inclusive and welcoming work environment.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Landscape & Grounds Maintenance
Cleanup of property
Snow removal
Raking lawn mowing and seasonal outdoor work
Operation of trucks and other motorized equipment
Service and inspection of tools and equipment
Assist other shops within the Facilities Department which may include moving furniture books etc.
Qualifications:
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
A valid drivers license and successful credentialing is required in order to operate college vehicles
6 months of experience
Strong customer service organizational and timemanagement skills
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills including the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Familiarity in operating motorized equipment including lawnmowers trimmers etc.
Commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive community
An acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check
Successful completion of preemployment physical and lift test
