Lighthouse Mission Ministries is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to providing emergency shelter support and resources to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community. Lighthouse Mission Ministries is seeking a dedicated and compassionate student intern to volunteer with our Community Engagement Department. As a Community Engagement Intern you will play a vital role in fostering connections coordinating volunteers and supporting various departments within our organization. This internship opportunity offers a dynamic experience where you will engage directly with our community assist in administrative tasks and contribute to handson service work. This position is ideal for a college student seeking practical experience in community engagement and social services as part of their coursework.
Schedule:To be individually determined upon interns availabilityhowever will be an expected1216 hours per week (or variable for credit) during Spring Quarter 2025
Internship tasks description:
- Help create social media posts newsletter content and other written content relevant to volunteerism
- Help assist with project planning and implementation and volunteer coordination
- Help manage online information pertaining to events and volunteering
- Help contribute to strategic meetings and brainstorming sessions
- Help create and facilitate volunteer appreciation initiatives and volunteer recognition events as schedule allows
- Help streamline onboarding process with volunteers including picture name tags Volunteer Handbook and updating database in Volunteer Hub
- Attend weekly department meeting if schedule allows
- Help host information tables at community events if needed
- Help assist with community engagement data and outreach
(Specific tasks of the internship can be adapted to meet student needs and areas of interest.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Organizational Relationships: Intern will be supervised by the Director of Community Engagement and will volunteer alongside staff from various departments.
Qualifications: This internship opportunity is open to any current college/university student seeking experience within their field of study and/or for academic credit hours (Speak with your University Department/College for qualification. Preference for candidates with an area of study and/or personal passion for social services. The internship is not an offer of employment either during the course of the internship or a promise of employment afterwards. In recognition of the interns efforts and costs LMM is pleased to offer a $1000 stipend payment paid in a lump sum following the successful completion of the internship. Interns in accordance with LMM policies may be subject to a prevolunteer background check.
