Our brandPLANADVISERis a financial publication/brand whose target readers are the men and women whoadvise companies and individuals about their employersponsored retirement plan PLANADVISER brand includesonline daily news and newsletters aprint magazine proprietary research conferences andmultiple awards programs.
Were seeking someone who is personable enough to hold court with a room fullofadvisers andexecutives and savvy enough to spot trends and news intheadviserandretirement planindustries. The right person will work with industry sources to deliver daily news storiesscoopsand larger trend pieces on topadvisory shops recordkeepersinvestment firmsetcall backed with excellent writing skills.
Key Responsibilities
Pitchingsourcingand writing spot news and long form news articles forthePLANADVISERwebsite on a daily basis as well as editing the work of colleagues for the same medium.
Developing close contacts within theemployersponsored retirement planworld.
Breaking news by working sources reporting fromconferencesandattendingpublic meetings.
Researching the worlds topretirement plans and advisers.
Producing featurelength and longform articles forthePLANADVISERwebsite
Managing multiple assignments while meeting dailyweeklyand monthly deadlines.
Sourcing and producing interviews withretirement plan/adviser/investment managerexecutivesandindustry thought leaders
Producingdaily and bimonthly newslettersand posting stories to the web.
Ability to network
Helping develop video and podcast interviews with top industry executives.
Helping to manage social media platforms.
Qualifications
05 years of experience in journalism or financial services who takes initiative in findingpitchingand delivering wellreported and actionable stories. Has a strong interest in issues affectingretirement plansin the form of spot news and longform articles.
Ability to multitask and to deliver 12 news stories per day plus regularfeatureand indepth stories for both print and online
Ability to read and understand and break news fromcourt filings
Knowledge of AP Style
Good track record of reporting on the financial industry
Good communication skills
Ability to work a room
Bachelors degree required
Added plus: HTML WordPressFinalCutPropodcastand copyediting experience.
