Job Description

Position Summary
The Indiana University School of Public HealthBloomington (SPHB) invites applications for a tenured/tenuretrack faculty position in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. This is an openrank search and applicants at all levels (assistant associate or full professors) are welcome. The SPH B seeks individuals who will contribute scientific excellence through rigorous research and teaching in epidemiological methods public health policy and practice and through community engagement to build the evidence base to responsibly promote health in the populations they serve . These 10month appointments would ideally start August 1 2025 although an earlier or later start date is negotiable. Applications received by November 30 2024 will receive full priority consideration and applications will be accepted until the position is filled. A member of the prestigious Association of American Universities AAU since 1909 Indiana University Bloomington prides itself in offering outstanding academics grounded in world class research and vibrant campus life. The School of Public HealthBloomington is located on the flagship campus of Indiana University and is comprised of over 200 faculty across five departments. Continuing the momentum of hiring over 60 outstanding tenuretrack/tenured faculty over the last three years the SPH B is launching another wave of faculty recruitment. The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics offers an undergraduate degree in epidemiology a Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology a Masters degree in biostatistics a Ph.D. program in epidemiology and a Ph.D. in biostatistics. The department has approximately 100 students enrolled in its BSPH program in Epidemiology (which is one of only three CEPH accredited BSPH programs in Epidemiology in the US) and approximately 100 other students enrolled across its residential and online graduate programs. A part of the flagship campus of Indiana University located in Bloomington Indiana the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics maintains strong connections to other departments in the School of Public HealthBloomington and other schools across Indiana University. In 2022 and 2023 IUB was honored with the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity award. Indiana University provides IU SPH B faculty outstanding teaching and research support through programs like the Faculty Academy on Excellence in Teaching (F.A.C.E.T.; extensive research development and research administrative support through the Office of the Vice President for Research; and innovative collaborations with organizations like the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute the Indiana University School of Medicine IUSM and Regenstrief Institutes Center for Aging Research and the IUSMs Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases and the Indiana University Bloomingtons Environmental Resilience Institute. In addition to outstanding programs like these exciting things are happening in medical sciences at IUB with the opening of the IU Regional Academic Health Center in Bloomington and significant synergy in cross departmental collaborations in areas like environmental impacts on human health nutrition and aging. SPH B has strong connections to the Indiana University School of Medicine Dentistry and Nursing Informatics and Computing Art & Design Public and Environmental Affairs and the Indiana University Indianapolis Fairbanks School of Public Health along with Purdue University programs in Pharmacy and Engineering.
