Other Conditions: Lecturer applicant pool for Fall 2025. Positions are parttime temporary nontenure and contingent upon course offerings sufficient student enrollment position clearance and availability of funding. Must be available to teach courses during the day evening weekend and/or via distance learning as needed.


Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Teach elementary and intermediate level of Mandarin Chinese language
  2. Teach Chinese studies content courses
  3. Prepare course schedule syllabus and reports relating to teaching and student progress.
  4. Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught


Minimum Qualifications

  1. Masters degree in a field relevant to Chinese language and culture such as Chinese language pedagogy Chinese literature Chinese history or Asian studies with an emphasis on Chinese culture.
  2. Native or nearnative proficiency in Chinese and English
  3. Must be proficient in modern Chinese pinyin (romanization) spelling system
  4. Must have a standard accent of Mandarin Chinese
  5. Some experience of teaching Chinese language at college level or to the community adults


Desirable Qualifications

  1. Ph.D. degree in a field related to Chinese language and culture.
  2. At least oneyear experience of teaching Chinese culture content courses at college level.
