You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailHead of Sustainability is a senior executive responsible for leading and driving the sustainability strategy and initiatives within the logistics company. This role focuses on integrating sustainable practices across operations aligning business objectives with environmental social and governance (ESG) goals and ensuring longterm viability and reduced environmental impact. The Head of Sustainability will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to develop and implement innovative solutions in line with industry best practices regulatory requirements and sustainability trends.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sustainability Strategy Development:
o Develop and execute the companys sustainability vision and strategy in line with the corporate goals and market trends.
o Identify key sustainability initiatives including reducing carbon footprint enhancing energy efficiency and optimizing resource utilization.
o Align sustainability goals with broader business strategies ensuring measurable outcomes and longterm environmental stewardship.
2. Sustainability Reporting & Compliance:
o Oversee the companys sustainability reporting ensuring accuracy and transparency in annual sustainability reports.
o Ensure compliance with local regional and global sustainability regulations including carbon emissions targets waste management policies and other environmental standards.
o Manage relationships with regulators industry groups and sustainability rating agencies.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships:
o Collaborate with key stakeholders including customers vendors employees and government bodies to promote sustainability initiatives and achieve shared goals.
o Develop partnerships with client organizations suppliers and industry peers to drive collective action on sustainability challenges.
o Advocate for sustainability policies both within and outside the organization enhancing the companys reputation as a sustainability leader.
4. Innovation & Sustainable Logistics Solutions:
o Promote the development and integration of innovative ecofriendly technologies and practices in logistics operations including green transportation solutions sustainable packaging and carbonneutral facilities.
o Work with IT and logistics teams to implement sustainable supply chain practices including optimizing route planning and using renewable energy sources.
o Encourage the use of alternative fuels electric vehicles (EVs) and lowemission technologies in fleet management and directly manage Sustainable Aviation Fuels initiatives.
5. Performance Monitoring & Metrics:
o Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for sustainability initiatives tracking progress and providing regular updates to senior leadership.
o Conduct environmental audits lifecycle assessments and sustainability impact evaluations to measure the effectiveness of implemented programs.
o Use data analytics to identify new opportunities for improvement and drive continuous optimization of sustainability efforts.
6. Employee Engagement and Training:
o Foster a culture of sustainability across the organization through employee training awareness programs and incentives for sustainable practices.
o Lead sustainabilityfocused employee engagement initiatives creating a sense of shared responsibility and purpose.
o Ensure sustainability is embedded in company values and daytoday operations from executive leadership to frontline workers.
7. Risk Management & Crisis Response:
o Identify and mitigate environmental and social risks ensuring that the company anticipates and adapts to changing regulatory climate and market conditions.
o Lead crisis management and response strategies in the event of environmental disruptions or sustainabilityrelated reputational issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education:
o A bachelors degree in Environmental Science Sustainability Business Administration Logistics or a related field is required. A masters degree or MBA with a focus on Sustainability or Corporate Responsibility is highly desirable.
Experience:
o Minimum of 10 years of experience in sustainability with at least 5 years in a senior management role within logistics transportation or supply chain industries.
o Proven track record of leading sustainability initiatives driving innovation in green logistics and working with crossfunctional teams to achieve environmental goals.
o Indepth knowledge of logistics operations including fleet management supply chain optimization and carbon emissions reduction strategies.
Technical Skills:
o Strong understanding of sustainability reporting standards (e.g. GRI CDP TCFD etc. and ESG metrics.
o Familiarity with relevant sustainability technologies such as telematics route optimization software and renewable energy solutions.
o Proficiency in data analysis and sustainability performance tools.
Leadership & Communication:
o Excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire change across all levels of the organization.
o Strong communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to present complex sustainability topics to a range of audiences (executive leadership employees customers and stakeholders).
o Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships including suppliers customers regulatory bodies and nongovernmental organizations.
Certifications (Preferred):
o Sustainability certifications such as LEED ISO 14001 or Carbon Trust are advantageous.
o Knowledge of carbon accounting frameworks such as the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol.
