Supplemental Qualification Requirements:
1. Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering in the discipline of Electrical Engineering.
2. At least two 2 years of professional experience in consultant contract development and management for the design of electrical systems for movable bridges roadway lighting and building facilities.
3. At least three 3 years of professional engineering experience in for the design of electrical systems for movable bridges roadway lighting and building facilities.
This position may be filled as either a probational appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and agencywide permanent status employees); or by detail to special duty.
There is a biweekly Special Entry Rate of $3316.00 for this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required License for Engineer 6DCL: Professional Engineer License in the state of Louisiana.

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus one of the following:
Two years of licensed engineering experience; or
Six years of professional engineering experience.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTIONS:
A masters degree in engineering will substitute for one year of professional engineering experience.
A doctorate degree in engineering will substitute for two years of professional engineering experience.
Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of professional engineering experience.
There is no substitution for licensed engineering experience.
NOTES:
Engineering experience gained while licensed as a professional engineer will be accepted as licensed engineering experience.
Engineering experience gained after earning an ABETaccredited degree and prior to earning a professional engineers license (e.g. as an engineer intern applicant engineer intern or equivalent) will be accepted as professional level engineering experience.

FUNCTION OF WORK:
Serves as a leader and departmental authority in either a broad area of engineering or in a narrow but intensely specialized field of engineering.
LEVEL OF WORK:
Expert.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Broad direction from an Engineer 7 or 8. Alternative reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May exercise functional/project supervision over lowerlevel engineers other professionals or engineering technicians.
LOCATION OF WORK:
May be used by all state agencies.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Engineer 5 by the presence of designation as a Dual Career Ladder job.
Differs from Engineer 6 by the absence of responsibility for direct supervision over professional engineers.
Engineer 6 DCL (Electrical Consultant Expert)
Incumbent shall work very closely with the Consultant Contract Services Unit the Mechanical and Structural Design Unit and other critical departmental units such as Road Design Survey and Project Management during the development of electrical consultant contracts. Incumbent shall assist the Consultant Contract Services Unit in developing electrical IDIQ contracts task orders and supplements and transmitting invoices for payment. Incumbent must stay uptodate with the consultant contract service procedures for the electrical unit. Coordination of the electrical mechanical and structural designs and other departmental units is necessary in order to properly develop consultant contracts for electrical tasks due to this sections unique knowledge skill and experience with electrical engineering. This coordination requires a clear understanding of electrical engineering and the task associated with projects administered by other units in order to ensure proper contract development.
Incumbent shall oversee the electrical portion of consultant designed projects to ensure Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC). These duties/responsibilities are handled inhouse which allows the department to use its expertise to verify and maintain the quality of consultant designs. This technical design expertise is highly specialized and vital to maintaining electrical IDIQs task orders and supplements for the design of electrical systems for movable bridges roadway lighting and facilities electrical. This expertise will be utilized on a continuous basis by the Bridge Design Section.
While in official capacity comply with any applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws rules regulations as well as DOTD policies procedures manuals and directives.
