About the role

This is a challenging but rewarding opportunity for you to make a positive change in the lives of People with a Disability.

We are seeking skilled and experienced Disability Support Workers to fill multiple permanent parttime positions available across our 24/7 supported residences supporting people with disabilities living in the community in Darwin. Our clients live with multiple disabilities and mental health challenges and are best supported by workers with experience in complex behaviour supports and using non verbal communication strategies.

Our clients enjoy hydrotherapy and swimming and support workers will need to be confident in participating in the water. Client activities will require manual handling including operating a wheelchair lift and driving a people carrier. Support Workers will require skills and experience inPEG feeding and dysphagia management and be HIDPA trained.

These roles offer work within a 24/7 roster that includes regular shift work including sleep overs active night shifts weekends and public holidays. We have part time rosters of 25 hours per week so will suit support workers looking for dependable and regular shifts they can commit to as their primary employment.

Candidates will be shortlisted and invited to attend a group information and interview session in coming weeks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assistance with daily living (including personal care)
  • Community Access and Transport
  • Maintain and Monitor Person Centred Plans
  • Documenting and Progress Note keeping
  • Assist individuals to engage in cultural activities and maintain cultural connection
  • Maintain high level of integrity and regard for professional boundaries confidentiality and ability to maintain sensitive information including Aboriginal matters.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum three years experience as disability support worker
  • Minimum Certificate III Individual Support or similar
  • Peg feeding and dysphagia management
  • HIDPA Trained
  • Unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence
  • Current Provide First Aid Certificate
  • Assist with Medication Skill Set
  • Sound understanding and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and issues affecting Aboriginal people.

Successful candidates will be required to undertake probity checks including a National Criminal History Record Check and hold NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
