Job Description

Position Title:

OnCall Production Technician

Position Type:

Regular

Hiring Range:

$22.79 per hour.

Pay Frequency:

Hourly

Purpose

The Production Technician provides basic technical assistance for SCUPresents Performing Art Center departments in any of the following areas: technical (lighting sound rigging staging) Frontofhouse operations or administration for university or offcampus users of the Mayer Theatre Fess Parker Studio Theatre Recital Hall or other designated performing arts venues.

I. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A. Serve as a general technician and provide support for clients and/or patrons including but not limited to technical theatre patron services operations and support for performances concerts and lecture needs for individual SCUPresents events.

B.Assist in departmentspecific SCUPresents Performing Arts Center events.

C. Other duties as assigned.

II. Qualifications

Demonstrate basic technical knowledge in at least one performing arts discipline: technical (lighting sound stage systems) patron services operation or administration. Ability to work well under pressure and with time constraints. Demonstrate interpersonal written and verbal communication skills. Flexible evening and weekend availability is imperative. Must have knowledge of relevant safety regulations required. Able to complete the general physical requirements as described for each position by the specific department. May include physical exertion which may include lifting kneeling and bending of knees and back ability to work at elevated heights using a ladder extension ladder and lift (technical). Understanding and support of the Jesuit tradition of education and a commitment to the fundamental values of service to others community and diversity.

III. GENERAL GUIDELINES

Recommends initiatives and implements changes to improve quality and services. Identifies and determines cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices. Maintains contact with customers and solicits feedback for improved services. Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools; planned training and performance initiatives. Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow. Prepares progress reports; informs supervisor of project status; and deviation from goals. Ensures completeness accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions. Prepares and submits reports as requested and required. Implements guidelines to support the functions of the unit.

IV. Education

  • High school diploma required. Bachelors degree preferred.

V. Years of Experience

  • At least one year of relevant technical experience required.

  • Performing arts spaces with equipment noise.

  • Performing arts spaces with frequent interruptions.
