Job Description Summary
The Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) AV Engineer at the university is responsible for designing implementing and maintaining audiovisual systems across campus ensuring seamless integration into classrooms conference rooms and event spaces. This role involves collaborating with the classroom team to assess AV needs recommending and installing appropriate technologies and troubleshooting technical issues. The AV Engineer also manages system upgrades maintains technical documentation (including wiring diagrams and system schematics) and supports largescale events such as commencements and conferences. With a focus on enhancing the learning environment the AV Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that audiovisual solutions are reliable innovative and tailored to the institutions evolving needs. Job Description
20 Assists users with installation of technology hardware and software; resolves hardware and software issues pertaining to supported software. Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex software and device issues. Provides ongoing support and preventative action recommendations for network issues. Serves as technical resource for various level of users. Installs new equipment for ITFR supported classrooms and facilities and assist AV/IT companies to rebuild classrooms with technical assistance and guidance.
20 Keeps up with classroom technology advances and provides data on trends. Diagnoses and repairs complex problems in response to reported incidents. Installs configures troubleshoots and maintains moderately to complex customer hardware and software. Provides data and/or solutions to issues. Ensures application of information security/information assurance polices principles and practices in the delivery of customer support services for classroom technology and business operations. Identifies information technology requirements for classrooms and departments.
20 Provides advice and direction to departments on purchases of hardware and software; conducts feasibility studies for technical upgrades; collects data and compiles and produces results; presents written recommendations to management. Writes and tests documentation. Makes recommendations for technical documentation methods and procedures for proper use of technology equipment and devices. Trains and/or develop materials for customer training for proper use or maintenance of classroom technology and other technical devices.
10 Advises faculty and staff on educational technology equipment purchases and applications and fluent with applications (Panopto Teams Brightspace etc. used in classrooms and conference rooms.
10 Directs preventive maintenance program on ITFR AV/IT equipment and is emergency support for Classroom Equipment and Applications (Crestron Tesira Audio PC troubleshooting etc. used within the classrooms/conference rooms.
10 Orders spare parts maintains maintenance records and inventories of tools parts test equipment and all classroom audiovisual technology and maintains and houses wired diagrams/blueprints for all Centrally Scheduled Classrooms.
5 Coordinates the technical activities of the video operations for streaming events like Commencement and others largescale events on campus.
5 Performs other technical assistance and duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications: Five 5 years experience in Audio Visual (AV) troubleshooting. AV over IP knowledge and experience in Tier 2 support of classrooms audio and video systems. Knowledge of IT infrastructure and operations with experience in audio/visual environments and Crestron controlled equipment. CTS Certification preferred. Ability to install update and maintain operating systems and application software/hardware firmware. Experience troubleshooting network related equipment issues. In emergent scenarios having the ability to formulate temporary fixes so there is little to no downtime for end users. Can make equipment purchase recommendations and perform technical installs when needed. Understands as built/wired diagrams for complex AV classroom systems. As a bonus (though not required) the ideal candidate would possess Crestron Certified Programmer skills CompTIA certification experience with Tesira (BiAmp) and familiarity with Dante software. Additionally CATL will provide access to training resources for areas where expertise is not yet established.

Minimum Requirements: A bachelors degree and two years experience in office automation systems data communications systems design installation operation repair sales or marketing. Related experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree on a yearforyear basis.
