The MGHPathology Department and Cancer Center are leader in the application of genomictechnologies to the study of human disease covering diverse fields includingpersonalized cancer medicine singlecell genomics and targeted genome are seeking a talented and highly motivated Front End Software Engineer to lead development of a webapplication front endfor a clinical cancer profiling platform at the Center for IntegratedDiagnostics (CID) at Massachusetts General Hospital.
The CID isredefining the boundaries of science and medicine with an interdisciplinarymodel designed to meet todaysmost critical clinical challenges. Here you will find an exciting fastpacedenvironment where we are developing new tools that will enable oncologists todeliver the promises of personalized successful candidate willjoin a thriving informatics community and become involved in a range of ongoingefforts. for designdevelopment and maintenance of web application user interfaces.
Design and develop dynamic andinteractive data visualizations.
Work with clinicianscomputational and molecular biologists in an iterative fashion to collectrequirements for and implement new & enhanced functionality to platformapplications.
Contribute to development of thebackend as needed and capable.
Conform to best practice codingstandards. Ensure software meets qualitycriteria (includes unit functional & QA tests).
Participate in peer design andcode review.
Evaluate new developmentpatterns tools techniques and methodologies and report on the applicability.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or arelated field
Minimumof 3 years of professional software development experience
Strong programming experiencewith Javascript. PHP and Pythonexperience is a plus.
Expertise in front end webdevelopment (HTML CSS JavaScript and other client side technologies).
Experience with Bootstrap orFoundation front end frameworks.
Experience with one or more ofthe following Javascript libraries: jQuery D3 Handlebars Angular Ember.
Strong aesthetic sense.
Multidisciplinary inclination:able to collaborate across computer & life sciences or other domains. Experience developing software in ascientific field is a plus.
Experience with Unix tools andshell scripting is a plus.
Experience with MediaWiki is a plus.
Experience with Agile &testdriven development a strong plus.
Good oral and writtencommunication skills (necessary for working collaboratively with other softwareengineers computational biologists and clinicians).
