Information Technology Technician
Position: Western Colorado University invites applications for the fulltime administrative position of IT Support Technician. The position reports to the IT Services Manager. This is an oncampus in person position at the Western Colorado University campus in Gunnison Colorado.
Responsibilities: Broadly this position provides frontline technical support and user assistance for many of the systems for which IT Services is responsible. This support includes installation and/or configuration of computing hardware (computers network switches printers etc. software A/V devices network cabling diagnostics troubleshooting and enduser assistance. Also assists students with personal devices and accessing the various IT systems. In addition to standard support duties opportunities are available to be responsible for one or more specialty areas.
SKILLS & ABILITIES include the following.
Ability to work effectively with customers with a wide range of technical aptitude
Effective communication skills technical and nontechnical
Strong technical problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Willing and able to continuously upgrade skills abilities and knowledge
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree any.
One year of general IT experience.
DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors or advanced degree in Computer Science Information Systems or related field
Experience working in a higher education environment.
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Fulltime administrative appointment.
COMPENSATION: $21.63 to $24.03 per hour (the equivalent of $45000 to $50000 annually. The position is FLSA nonexempt and eligible for overtime. Full benefits package. After one year of employment self and dependents qualify for tuition waivers to attend Western. Relocation and housing assistance may be available.
