Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma with HT (ASCP) certification OR 60 undergraduate semester hours with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology AND chemistry OR an associate degree with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry within or in addition to associate degree.
Must obtain ASCP HT certification within 1 year after completion of 12 consecutive months of fulltime on the job training in a histopathology laboratory.
Preferred Qualifications:
1 year 12 consecutive months) of fulltime clinical experience in histopathology laboratory within the last five years OR 1 year 12 consecutive months) of full time veterinary industry or research experience in histopathology laboratory.
Certified as HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP)
Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
Assesses specimen and order acceptability according to departmental policies and procedures.
Performs and assists with specimen and frozen section preparation.
Dictates gross descriptions of specimens.
Performs and documents preventative maintenance on machines.
Performs troubleshooting on laboratory equipment.
Performs computer functions as required.
Is capable of accessioning cases as needed.
Assists with autopsies at UAMS/ACH.
Participates in the training of new employees and residents as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
