The Administration for Childrens Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages communitybased supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice ACS oversees detention placement and programs for youth in the community.
ACS Division of Financial Services (DFS) is responsible for supporting planning implementing and monitoring the fiscal functions of the agency in accordance with City State and Federal guidelines. Within DFS the Claiming Unit is responsible for ensuring that ACSs expenditures including those for foster care subsidized childcare preventive independent living services and administration are claimed to the state and federal governments so that we receive revenue reimbursement. DFS is looking for a highly motivated and detailoriented Financial Claims Undergraduate Intern to join our team.
As a Financial Claims Undergraduate Intern you will support a team that is responsible for claiming close to $2 billion annually in state and federal revenue reimbursements. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to various aspects of financial management and learn how to obtain revenue needed to support various ACS divisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform child specific research to ensure revenue maximization and reduce audit risks
Conduct research on individual payment vouchers to ensure accurate claiming functions
Reconcile advances paid to providers with recoupments
Assist with report cleaning and preprocessing and creating data matches in MS Excel by using functions
Assist Claiming & Revenue support and management staff with administrative assignments as needed
Learning Outcomes:
Gain handson experience submitting financial claims in accordance with oversight guidelines
Learn how to conduct child specific claims research in terms of funding stream eligibility
Develop skills in collaborating across teams towards desired outcomes

Qualifications :
As of June of the Program year the prospective interne must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program June August each year.
