About Your Role:

Dotdash Meredith is looking for a highlyskilled Engineering Lead with demonstrated technical excellence and leadership capability to support and grow our new brandfocused mobile application. You will work in a collaborative Agile environment managing and guiding the team that builds and releases this new app and helping ensure its success and position as a cornerstone of the companys growth.

As an engineering lead and SME on the team you will help set technical best practices provide guidance to lessexperienced developers and ensure that the application provides the best possible UX and experience to our users. You will partner with Product Management as well as other team leads within the department to achieve our overall business goals as well as contributing directly to the app codebase.

Inoffice Expectations: This position offers remote work flexibility; however if you reside within a commutable distance to one of our offices in New York Des Moines Birmingham Los Angeles Chicago or Seattle the expectation is to work from the office three times per month. The teams are located across the country with leadership centered in NYC and Chicago so experience leading distributed teams across multiple time zones is highly desirable.

About Your Contributions:

• Define and realize the technical vision for our mobile application in alignment with our overall app development strategy across iOS and Android platforms

• Work closely with backend engineers to ensure optimal integration between frontend UI and backend APIs.

• Monitor app performance using analytics tools and continuously optimize performance based on user feedback and usage data to improve the overall user experience.

• Work closely with product managers designers content creators and other teams to integrate product vision and feedback enhance app features and drive user engagement.

• Lead and mentor your team of developers.

About You:

You have solid knowledge of and experience with modern mobile app development methods and recent handson experience applying that knowledge. You have managed or mentored developers before and are looking to continue that growth.

• Proven experience 5 years) in designing developing and maintaining productionready mobile applications with at least 1 year of that time including management experience.

• Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.

• Strong technical background with expertise in mobile application technologies especially

  • React Native and similar (e.g. Flutter): Expertise building highperformance crossplatform mobile applications with a JavaScript/TypeScript core and native platformspecific UI components including predictable state management patterns using Redux or similar alternatives.

  • Native App development: Familiarity with building and managing both Swift (iOS) and Kotlin (Android) truenative applications.

  • Firebase and similar mobile application technologies: Experience with Firebase services including Firestore for scalable NoSQL data storage Crashlytics for monitoring and resolving app crashes and Firebase Push Notifications for realtime user engagement and messaging.

  • Code signing and release management: Familiarity with managing the endtoend app release process including code signing provisioning profiles and certificates for both iOS and Android platforms and CI/CD pipelines. Proficient in ensuring secure and compliant app distribution through App Store Google Play or enterprise channels.

  • Testing & Quality Assurance: familiar and comfortable collaborating with QA teams to identify and address bugs and performance issues.

• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integration of APIs into mobile applications.

• Demonstrated ability to interpret technical strategy and deliver highquality products under tight deadlines.

• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and project management tools (e.g. Jira).
