The Implementation & Support group is responsible for adapting and geographically growing innovative products across our premium wellness and therapeutic product portfolios. This senior scientist position will be responsible for leading the technology transfer including ingredient characterization product design and production scale implementation of complete nutrition wellness & therapeutic foods for dogs and cats at our manufacturing facilities. This will require working closely with quality regulatory supply chain manufacturing technology procurement packaging external ingredient suppliers and internal manufacturing colleagues to ensure successful development and launch. Teamwork on product design with our claims and clinical studies group will help ensure final formulas deliver required efficacy and claims.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead the development of solesource nutritional solutions that deliver against specified nutrient ingredient quality & cost requirements
• Validate product performance through coordination & interpretation of product analytical biological palatability sensory thermal processing and stability testing.
• Partner with manufacturer colleagues and manufacturing technology to optimize product and process development
• Development of ingredient finished product specifications and project documentation
• Budgets and tracks project costs for initiatives.
• Ongoing quality safety and training

Basic requirements:

10 Years of Animal or Food Proven Experience with 5 years in development of wet form sole source nutrition foods

MS in Food Science Nutrition Food Engineering or related field

Other required experience or qualifications:

Demonstrated understanding of formula development process and basic food science principles

Familiar with FDA low acid canned food (LACF) thermal processing filings

Basic understanding of regulatory product safety and quality requirements relevant to functional responsibilities

Demonstrated ability to craft and run scientific experiments

Ability to plan and execute projects

Interpersonal skills

Preferred qualifications:

PhD in Food Science Nutrition Food Engineering or related field

Experience in integrating product design with novel wet product packaging including pouches tubs and trays

Completed Better Process Control certification
