- The Department of Corrections Division of Institutions is recruiting for a Maintenance Specialist Plumbing Journey 2/Lead for the Spring Creek Correctional Center (SCCC) located in Seward Alaska.
What You Will Be Doing:- Install maintain and repair all facility plumbing at the Spring Creek Correctional Center in accordance with the Uniform Plumbing Code and local plumbing code
- Properly select and perform work at a professional level with steel stainless steel copper brass cast iron pipe and composting materials
- Provide assistance to other maintenance staff
- Perform other duties as assigned

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
Spring Creek Correctional Center is a maximum security state operated adult correctional institution that has a capacity of over 500 male inmates and employs approximately 200 staff. While much of Spring Creeks inmate population serve long term sentences we also house prisoners serving shorter sentences.Who We Are Looking For:
We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:
- Possession of valid State of Alaska Journeyman Plumber Fitness Card.
- Ability to read blueprints plans schematics specifications and operate twoway radios.
- Knowledge of uniform building codes.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.

- Seward is home to the Mt. Marathon Race which is run every July 4th. The race totals 3.1miles and climbs 3022 feet. Top finishers cross the finish line in about an hour.
- Seward schools are second to none with the Seward Elementary School being selected as a 2008 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School.
- The region offers fantastic marine boating fishing and hunting crosscountry skiing bird watching hiking kayaking running and biking and much much more.

Please be aware this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.FINGERPRINT NOTICE
