Materials Specialist Materials Management
Full Time 80 Hours Per Pay Period Day Shift

MorristownHamblen Healthcare System has167 licensed beds and 23 emergency suites. The hospitaloffers outstanding ancillary services including Laboratory Radiology and Therapy our Breast Imaging Center of Excellencewomen can have their annual mammograms biopsiesand can meet with a nurse navigator if needed. The Womens Center offers six newly remodeled labor and delivery suites and has a secure nursery for the care of our newborns. Works under the general supervision of the Director of Materials Management/Surgical Services and is responsible for direct item supplies in Surgical Services. Duties to include but not limited to: ordering charging managing stock levels and location and maintaining DBS & MATKON database. Serves as the liaison between materials and surgical divisions. Understands correlation between surgical budget and materials expense. Acts as initial contact for sales reps and the clinical staff. Understands how supplies are utilized and assists in proper use and control of supplies.
Responsibilities
- Arranges orders issues and charges direct supplies utilized in surgery.
- Establishes inventory levels obtains necessary direct items/supplies for all surgical cases.
- Maintains database as relates to direct item supplies for Surgical Services.
- Participates and acts as a resource to Operations Leader in materials budget process.
- Conducts direct item inventory yearly or as needed.
- Liaison between Materials Management and Surgical Division sales reps physicians and other staff as relates to direct items. Researches products and equipment.
- Maintains knowledge base of supply utilization and seeks knowledge of new supplies. Ensures outdated and obsolete items removed from inventory and actively identifies consignment opportunities.
- Provides information or serves on the Standardization & Utilization Committee.
- Coordinates procurement of equipment and processing repairs of instrumentation.
- Assists in development of prepackage supply system.
- Follows policies procedures and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job typically such as would be equivalent to a Bachelors degree. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a Bachelors degree in a directlyrelated field from an accredited college or university.
